Hello!! I'm James Wong!! Nice to meet you and thank you for stopping by!! :)

I am a Taiwanese-American actor currently based in New York City. I was born and raised in Florence, South Carolina! My journey with the arts began when I started playing the violin at the age of 4. Inspired by my sister's performance of Minuet in G Major, I thought, “I can do that!” And I did! I played for about 9 years before starting theatre and focusing on that. My eyes were opened to the world of theatre in middle school, where my teachers had me watch West Side Story (1961) and the PBS recording of Into the Woods. Immediately, I fell in love with Rita Moreno’s high kicks, and I vividly remember singing every part of 'Your Fault' in my German class (classmates, you're welcome). In my junior year of high school, I furthered my training at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, where I studied voice and classical music. Although I have a love for the classical arts, my heart is in theatre, and in my senior year, I decided to pursue a BFA in Musical Theatre.

I relocated to the mountains of Utah and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre. While in Salt Lake City, I performed on stage at Pioneer Theatre Company, Salt Lake Acting Company, and the University of Utah.

Growing up in South Carolina and going to school in Utah, there aren't many people or actors who look like me. During my time in Salt Lake City, I became passionate about bringing all demographics into every room. Currently in New York City, I am involved with the National Asian Artists Project run by Baayork Lee. I made my NYC debut in their NAAP Discover series and had the opportunity to continue performing new works that are focused on Asian stories and experiences.

In my free time, I love to read, play video games, and watch anime and sitcoms (and Glee...LOVE Glee) !!
